THOSE interested in registering for low medium-cost (LMC) units in Penang can obtain the application forms from the Komtar concourse beginning Dec 14.

State Housing, Town and Country Planning Committee chairman Jagdeep Singh Deo said the forms for a total of 19,093 units at eight LMC housing projects would be available.

He said 15,941 of the units were allocated at five projects on the mainland while the remaining 3,152 units were from three projects on the island.

“The locations on the island are Teluk Kumbar (696 units), Jelutong (556 units) and Jalan S.P. Chelliah (1,900 units).

“The projects on the mainland are at Kampung Jawa, Butterworth (707 units), Ampang Jajar (1,634 units), off Jalan Berapit (1,000 units), Bukit Juru (800 units) and Phase 1 of Bandar Cassia, Batu Kawan (11,800 units),” he told a press conference in Komtar recently.

He said the 700sq ft units at seven of the projects were priced at RM72,500 while the units at Bandar Cassia, Batu Kawan, which are 800sq ft, were priced similarly.

“The units at Jalan S.P. Chelliah, which are 800sq ft, cost RM200,000 each.

“The 900sq ft units are RM300,000 each and the 1,000sq ft ones are RM400,000 each,” he said.

“The other LMC units at six other locations with built-up areas between 800sq ft to 1,000sq ft range between RM200,000 to RM250,000 each,” he said.

Jagdeep Singh said the registration exercise for interest held on Feb 7 had attracted 26,549 applicants for the Jalan S.P. Chelliah project while 2,696 applied for the Batu Kawan project.

The forms are available at RM1 each. Registration can also be done online at beginning Dec 14.
